Reports overview
A report turns your project's issues into a document you can send: a PDF for the site meeting, an Excel file for analysis, a CSV for your own tooling.
What a report contains
Today's report type is Issue Tracking: the issues in your project, filtered, grouped, and formatted.
Every report is built from four decisions:
- Filters — which issues are included (status, company, zone, date range, priority…).
- Fields — which columns appear for each issue.
- Grouping — how issues are organized: by zone, company, trade, or phase.
- Format — PDF, Excel, or CSV.
PDF reports can also include before/after photos, drawing pins, and full drawing overviews with every pin marked, plus a customizable cover page.
Formats
| Format | Best for |
|---|---|
| Sending to clients and contractors. Includes photos, drawings, and a cover page. | |
| Excel | Filtering and pivoting the data yourself. |
| CSV | Feeding another system. |
Templates
A report template saves a whole configuration — filters, fields, grouping, sort order, format, cover page — under a name like "Monthly high-priority issues". Generating from a template is one click, and the result is identical every time.
Templates are private (only you) or project-wide (everyone on the project). See Report templates.
Splitting
A report can be split by group: instead of one combined PDF, Builddar generates one report per zone, per company, per trade, or per phase. Split by company and each contractor gets a document containing only their own work. See Split reports by group.
Generation is asynchronous
Reports are built in the background. You start one, keep working, and download it when it's ready. A report moves through Pending → Processing → Completed (or Failed).
Emailing and schedules
- Send a finished report to any list of recipients, with a custom subject and message — see Email a report.
- Or have Builddar generate and send it automatically every day, week, or month — see Scheduled reports.
Emailed reports are role-filtered. A guest receives a version limited to their own company's issues, even when they're on the same recipient list as the client.

Custom report templates may depend on your plan. If template editing isn't available, the feature isn't enabled for your organization.
Retention
Generated reports expire after a retention period set by your organization, then are cleaned up automatically. Download or email anything you need to keep.
