Organization overview

Your organization is your company's workspace in Builddar. It owns your projects, your people, your branding, and the shared lists every project starts from.

What lives at the organization level

MembersEveryone in your company, each with an organization role.
ProjectsEvery project belongs to exactly one organization.
BrandingLogo and brand colors, used on report covers and in emails.
Default languageThe language used for members and outgoing emails.
Shared catalogsTrades, disciplines, zone types, company types, issue title suggestions, and zone categorization lists. Projects start from these.
PlanWhich features are available and what the limits are.
Report retentionHow long generated reports are kept before cleanup.

Organization roles

RoleWhat they can do
AdminFull control. Creates projects, invites people, edits branding and catalogs, and can access every project in the organization.
MemberBelongs to the organization and works on the projects they're added to.
GuestAn external participant — a subcontractor, a client. Company-scoped, and only sees the projects they're invited to.
note

Organization roles are separate from project roles. Someone can be an organization Member and a project Manager at the same time.

Plans and features

Your plan decides which features your organization can use, alongside limits on members, projects, drawings, and zones. Features that commonly depend on the plan:

  • Custom workflow statuses and transitions
  • Custom report templates and scheduled reports
  • A custom issue form
  • Advanced document management — versioning, approval, activity log
  • Checklists
  • Advanced dashboard analytics
info

Throughout this documentation, a :::info note like this one means the feature depends on your plan. If you can't find it in the product, that's usually why.

Billing modes

Organizations are billed one of two ways, which changes how projects are provisioned:

  • Per user — seat-based. Your plan caps how many non-guest members and projects you can have.
  • Per project — drawing-based. Each project gets a drawing quota, and admins may be allowed to add credits themselves. See Upload drawings.
