Notification settings

Your notification settings are personal and apply across every project you work on.

Required role: none — everyone manages their own.

Open your settings

Open your notification settings from your profile or the notification bell.

Set your digest timing

  1. Set your timezone — digests are delivered in your local time, not the server's.
  2. Set the daily digest hour (0–23, default 8). This is when your batched notifications arrive.
  3. Save.
tip

Set the digest hour to just before you normally start on site. The digest then reads as "here's what changed since yesterday" instead of arriving mid-afternoon.

Mentions

When someone @-mentions you in a comment:

  • Notify on mention — on or off.
  • Email — on or off.
  • Push — on or off.
note

Mentions are always immediate. There's no digest option, because a mention is usually a question someone is waiting on an answer to.

Assignments

When an issue is assigned to you:

  • Notify on assignment — on or off.
  • Email and Push — on or off individually.
  • Deliveryimmediate or daily digest.

Document activity

  • Document activity email — on or off.
note

Document activity always arrives in your daily digest, never one email per change. Uploading forty files to a folder produces one line in your digest, not forty emails.

Site meetings

  • Meeting report published — get an email when a site meeting report is published.
  • Meeting point assigned — get an email when a meeting point is assigned to your company.

Both are always immediate.

Engagement emails

Builddar can nudge you about things that are quietly going stale:

  • Weekly project recap — a summary of project activity, every Monday.
  • Stale issue reminders — reminders about open issues with no recent activity. Set the threshold in days (default 7) that makes an issue count as stale.
  • Re-engagement emails — a nudge when you haven't used Builddar for a while.

Each can be turned off independently.

Push notifications

  • Push enabled — the master switch for push on all your devices.

Turning this off silences push everywhere without changing your per-category choices. See Push notifications.

Reading your notifications

From the notification bell you can:

  • See your unread count and a summary of what's waiting.
  • Mark one as read, or mark all as read.
  • Open a notification to jump straight to the issue, document, or report it refers to.

When your settings don't apply

A project manager can set a notification category to Off or Required for a whole project, which overrides your personal choice for that category on that project. See Project notification rules.

Project invitations always send, regardless of settings.
