Push notifications
Push notifications put an assignment or a mention on your phone's lock screen, so you find out on site rather than back at the desk.
Required role: none — everyone manages their own devices.
Turn on push
- Install the Builddar mobile app and sign in.
- When the app asks permission to send notifications, allow it.
- The device registers itself with your account automatically.
Result: the device appears in your registered devices, and push notifications start arriving.
If you declined the permission prompt, the app can't ask again — you have to enable notifications for Builddar in your phone's own settings, then reopen the app.
Choose what gets pushed
Push is per-category, not all-or-nothing. In your notification settings:
- Push enabled — the master switch. Turning it off silences push on every device without changing your other choices.
- Mentions → push — on or off.
- Assignments → push — on or off.
Push is off by default for categories a project manager forces on. A required category reaches you in the app and by email; push stays your choice.
Manage your devices
Each phone or tablet you sign in on registers separately, recording its name, OS, and app version.
To see or clean up your devices, open your registered devices from your notification settings. Remove a device to stop it receiving push — do this for a phone you've replaced or no longer have.
Result: that device stops receiving push immediately. Your other devices are unaffected.
Remove old devices when you change phones. A retired device that still holds a valid session keeps receiving your notifications.
Troubleshooting
Nothing arrives on my phone.
- Check push enabled is on in your notification settings.
- Check the specific category (mentions, assignments) has push turned on.
- Check notifications are allowed for Builddar in your phone's settings.
- Check the device appears in your registered devices — sign out and back in to re-register it.
Some notifications arrive, others don't. That's per-category settings doing their job. Also remember that some categories are digest-only — document activity always arrives in your daily digest, never as a push.
I get them on one device but not another. Each device registers separately. Open the app on the quiet device and sign in again to re-register it.
A whole category went silent. A project manager can turn a category Off for an entire project — see Project notification rules.
A device that repeatedly fails to receive push is eventually deactivated automatically. Open the app on it to register it again.
