App updates
The Builddar mobile app checks its version against the server. There are two outcomes, and only one of them blocks you.
Update available
Your version is supported, but a newer one exists. You're told, and you can carry on working. Update when it suits you.
Update required
Your version is older than the minimum supported version for your platform. The app stops here until you update.
- Follow the link to the App Store or Google Play.
- Install the update.
- Reopen Builddar and sign in.
Minimum supported versions are set separately for iOS and Android, so the two platforms don't have to move together.
Sync your pending work before you update if you can. Issues and photos captured offline live on the device until they upload. Updating the app through the store keeps that data, but uninstalling and reinstalling does not.
If you're already blocked and have unsynced work, get to a connection first — the app will still sync — then update.
Why a version stops being supported
The mobile app talks to the API and holds an offline database on the device. When either changes in a way an old build can't handle correctly, that build is retired rather than left to fail in the field — a stale client that silently mis-syncs a defect list is worse than one that asks you to update.
Release notes
Each version carries release notes, shown with the update prompt.
