Work with the point register

The register is the list of every point on the project. It is the durable record — points stay in it until they're closed, across every report, keeping their original date.

Required role: Project Manager or Collaborator to raise and edit any point. A Guest sees and edits only the points their own company owns or is concerned by.

Raise a point

Prerequisites: a draft meeting must be open. A point is raised at a meeting, and its history records which one — so if every meeting is published you'll see Every meeting is published. Open the next one before raising a point.

  1. Go to the Register tab.
  2. Select New point.
  3. Enter a Title — what has to be dealt with.
  4. Optionally add a Description.
  5. Choose a Category: Administrative, Studies, Execution, Decision or Information. Execution is the default.
  6. Set the Responsible company — the one company answerable for the point.
  7. Optionally add Companies concerned — others who need to see it.
  8. Optionally set a Trade, a Zone, a Phase, and a Due date.
  9. Mark it Urgent if it needs to be.
  10. Select Raise the point.

Result: the point takes the next point number on the project and enters the register with status To do. Its history opens with a Raised entry naming this meeting.

note

The point belongs to the project, not to the meeting. It stays in the register until it is closed.

Filter the register

Use Filter the register to narrow by Status, Category, Company, Trade, Zone and Phase. You can also:

  • Switch scope between Open, Closed and All.
  • Toggle Urgent only.
  • Search a point by text.

Filters have an unassigned option for each dimension — No trade, No zone, No company, No category — so you can find points that are missing information.

tip

On a large project the register is capped on screen: Showing X of Y points. Filter by trade, zone or company to see a complete group. Filtering isn't cosmetic there — it's how you see a whole group.

Flags a point can carry

  • Urgent — set by hand.
  • Blocking — shown automatically when a point is both urgent and overdue.
  • Reminders — a printed count, incremented deliberately when you remind a company during a meeting. It is a badge on the document, not an automated email.
  • Final reminder — the last formal notice before escalation.

Photos and comments

Open a point to add Photos (typed Before, After, Document or Other) and comments. A comment is added to the history — it is never edited or deleted.

History

Every point carries an append-only History. Entries are one of: Raised, Comment, Status changed, Due date changed, Reminder, Reopened, Closed, Carried forward.

There is no edit and no delete. A correction is a new entry. This is what lets a reader see, years later, exactly when a subject was raised, how often it was chased, and when it closed.

A point can be linked to a tracked issue. Use this when a subject discussed in the meeting is also a defect being tracked on a drawing — it keeps the observation, the inspection, the defect and the sign-off on one thread.
