Drawings overview
A drawing is a plan of your project — a floor plan, an elevation, a structural detail. Upload it once, and your team can drop pins on it to show exactly where a defect is.
How drawings work
- Every drawing belongs to a zone. A floor plan lives on the floor it shows, so opening a zone shows the plans that describe it.
- A drawing can carry a discipline — Architecture, Structure, MEP — so a busy project stays sortable. Disciplines are defined once at the organization level and shared by every project.
- A drawing has a name, an optional drawing number (for example
A-101,S-201) and an optional description. - Once uploaded, Builddar generates a thumbnail for lists and a high-resolution preview used for placing pins — including on site with no signal.
Pins
A pin is an issue placed at a coordinate on a drawing. It's the fastest way to answer "which window is cracked?" — you point at it instead of describing it.
Opening a drawing shows every pin on it. Tapping a pin opens the issue.
Who can do what
Any project member who can access the project can view drawings and their pins, subject to zone access — a drawing inside a private zone is only visible to users who can see that zone.
Uploading and managing drawings is available to any project member with access to the project. Unlike issues, documents or meetings, drawings carry no role-level restriction — Manager, Collaborator and Guest all have the same rights over them.
If you need to keep a drawing away from a contractor, control it through zone access rather than through their role.
