Upload and organize documents
Required role: Manager or Collaborator to upload and manage folders. Guests can view and download what's shared with them.
Create a folder
- Open the project's Documents area.
- Select New Folder.
- Enter a name and optional description, and choose the parent folder (leave empty for the project root).
- Save.
Result: the folder appears in the tree.
Two folders under the same parent can't have the same name. A folder inside a private parent is always created private.
To create a whole structure at once, use the bulk folder creation action and list the folder paths you need.
Upload a document
- Open the folder you want the document in (or stay at the root).
- Select Upload and choose the file.
- Set the name (defaults to the file name) and optional description.
- Save.
Result: the file is stored, its size and type are recorded, and a thumbnail is generated for images and PDFs.
Upload several files
Choose the bulk upload action and select multiple files. Each becomes its own document in the target folder, and the result tells you which files succeeded and which failed.
Upload a whole folder
For migrating an existing file share, Builddar can take a folder with its subfolders in one go:
- Choose the folder upload action and select the folder on your computer.
- Builddar prepares the upload — recreating the folder structure — and you confirm it.
- Follow the progress until it finishes.
Result: the folder tree and all its files are recreated in the project.
A folder upload runs in the background. You can leave the page and come back — the status screen shows how far along it is.
Browse and search
The browse view shows folders and documents together, one level at a time, like a file explorer. You can filter by file type and by tag, and see who has viewed each document.
Tag documents
Tags are defined per project and then applied to any document.
- In the Documents area, open the tag list and create the tags you need.
- Open a document and assign one or more tags to it.
Result: the document can be found by tag from the browse view.
To remove a tag from a document, open the document and remove it there. Deleting the tag itself removes it from every document.
Move documents
- Select one or more documents.
- Choose Move and pick the destination folder.
Result: the documents move. If the destination folder is private, the documents become private too — access can only get stricter as you move down the tree.
Delete documents
- Select the document (or several) and choose Delete.
- Confirm.
Result: the documents are removed from the project.
Deleting a folder deletes everything inside it — its subfolders and all their documents.
A Collaborator can only delete documents they uploaded themselves. A Manager can delete any document.
Download several documents as a ZIP
- Select the documents and folders you want.
- Choose the ZIP download action.
- Builddar builds the archive in the background — follow the status until it's ready, then download it.
Result: one ZIP file containing everything you selected, with the folder structure preserved.
Large selections take a moment to build. You can leave the screen and come back to the job when it's ready.
