Checklists overview
A checklist turns a repeatable inspection into something anyone on your team can run consistently: walk the apartment, tick each point, photograph what failed, and raise an issue for it.
Checklists depend on your plan. If you don't see them, they aren't enabled for your organization — see Features gated by plan.
Templates and instances
Builddar separates the definition from the run:
- A template is the reusable definition — a name, optional sections, and the items to check. Templates are per-project.
- An instance is one live checklist: the template copied onto a specific zone, drawing, or issue, and then filled in. Once created, an instance is independent — editing the template later doesn't change checklists already in progress.
A template's items can be grouped into sections (Structural shell, MEP rough-in, Interior finishing…) or sit flat if the list is short.
Item statuses
Each item in a live checklist moves through:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Not yet inspected. |
| OK | Checked and acceptable. |
| Failed | Checked and not acceptable. |
| Corrected | An issue linked to this failed item was validated — Builddar sets this automatically. |
Corrected is set by Builddar, not by you. When you link a failed item to an issue and that issue is validated, the item flips to Corrected and locks. If the issue is later rejected or reopened, the item goes back to Failed.
Each item can also carry a note and photo attachments.
Where a checklist lives
An instance is attached to exactly one context:
- a zone (optionally scoped to a phase),
- a drawing (also optionally phase-scoped), or
- an issue — in which case it inherits the issue's phase.
An instance can also have an assignee and a due date, and can be marked blocking so the zone isn't considered done until it's complete.
